CITY LIGHTS
Cities where even the night is alive. Movement that asks no permission.
Born and raised in one of the world's largest metropolises — I breathed São Paulo, photographed it, lost my mind in it and escaped it. A city that, for everything it gives and offers, also drains you. The concrete city that begs for air, for escape, for a horizon. And yet it is there that so much inspiration is born.
São Paulo, Berlin, Bangkok, London — and so many others. Each with its own rhythm, its own light, its own particular noise. Some in ungoverned chaos, others in a culturally organised one.
There is a particular solitude in watching a crowd without being part of it. It is from that place — inside and outside at the same time — that these images came, and they are gathered here in a series that is still growing, now that I live in another large city, only this time a far colder one.
The camera and the eye work together. A fraction of a second, and movement becomes memory. The noise pauses. The city becomes an image.
Colour, life and contrast. Movement held still in cities that never stop.
